"In the Moment"
by Junko Azakawa
Japanese Ink Art Live Performance and Exhibition

Thursday 27 February
6pm to 7:30 pm

proudly supported by Menzies Malvern

Japanese soot ink painting is a philosophy, a way of living and an art form. The brush strokes are made on very absorbent paper and don’t permit any retouching or correction. Any hesitation in your brush movement creates a blotch of ink on the paper. The ink mark shows exactly how the artist applied the brush on the paper and is a reflection of the moment.
Junko Azukawa grew up in Toyama, Japan, and started learning traditional Japanese calligraphy at the age of five and has experienced the vast possibilities that Sumi ink can express, one of her artworks “Bamboo Grove and the Dragonfly” is in the National Gallery of Victoria’s collection.
Please join us for this exclusive exhibition and performance by Junko, enjoy complimentary refreshments and sparkling.
